The future isn't written, it's built

...and it's built right here in Ravena.

The Lafarge Ravena cement plant has been a member of the Ravena-Coeymans community for more than 60 years as a legacy business leader, and has supported projects locally and across the Northeast since 1962.

Dear Members of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (RCS) Community,

Since joining the community in 1962, the Lafarge Ravena plant has been a vital part in developing the foundation of our everyday lives. We proudly employ more than 159 full-time employees and recognize the importance of creating a safe environment for our friends and neighbors. Together, we're committed to supporting the organizations, infrastructure and programs that help the local area thrive.

Concrete connects us, shelters us, provides safe drinking water, and is truly a part of our everyday life by serving as the backbone of our nation. As a trusted community partner, our goal is to help our region grow and be sustainable. This website serves as a resource to inform you about our plant, initiatives and long-term pledges to those who call this region home.

We recognize there is, and always will be, an ongoing conversation about our environment and the need to protect our community. In fact, we recently invested in a $500 million modernization of the Ravena cement plant to add cutting edge technology that is designed to meet the evolving environmental standards for years to come. While we have content on this website dedicated to providing more information about our use of alternative fuels, our commitment to sustainability, and establishing a zero-waste future, nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our employees, families, neighbors and community — it is at the forefront of everything we do.

Every Lafarge team member lives, works, and plays here in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk vicinity, making our top priority the protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees and all those in our community.

As an anchor for our region and the largest taxpayer in the area south of Albany, we believe in fostering strong partnerships across the community. This is why we have developed several initiatives to support local organizations, groups and schools, including our annual donation to local police, fire, school and other government programs. We also frequently work with local food pantries and sponsor events such as the Ravena Friendship Festival.

We created the Community Advisory Committee (CAC), which includes representatives from the city, school district, civic leaders and area residents to improve and promote communication between our operations and those who call the Ravena-Coeymans area home. The CAC meets regularly to discuss the plant, any recent issues, answer questions and receive feedback from the community.

Our team truly values transparency and input from the community, and the well-being and prosperity of the area is our top priority. We want to help our community thrive and be sustainable in all regards, including facing the challenges of good environmental responsibility together.
