Dear Members of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk (RCS) Community,

Since joining the community in 1962, the Ravena cement plant has played a vital role in developing the foundation of our everyday lives. We proudly employ more than 150 full-time employees and recognize the importance of creating a safe environment for both our workforce and the local community. Together, we're committed to supporting the organizations, institutions, and programs that help Southern Albany County thrive.

Cement connects us, shelters us, provides safe drinking water, and supports the infrastructure that serves as the backbone of our nation. Our goal is to be a trusted community partner and help the region grow and be sustainable.

This website is a resource to keep you informed about our plant, our initiatives, and our long-term commitment to the community as the area’s largest employer and property taxpayer.

We recognize there is, and always will be, an ongoing conversation about our impact on the community and the environment. In recent years, we invested in a $500 million modernization of the plant to add cutting-edge technology designed to meet the evolving sustainability and clean energy standards for years to come.

We are continuing to invest our operations with projects designed to improve the way we work and minimize our impact on our neighbors. We invite you to visit the “projects” tab on this website for an overview of our ongoing efforts.

This site is dedicated to providing you with information about our use of alternative fuels, our commitment to sustainability, and work towards establishing a zero-waste future. But nothing is more important to us than the health and safety of our employees, families, neighbors, and the community at large. Maintaining that is at is at the forefront of everything we do.

Every team member at our plant lives, works, and plays here in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk vicinity. Our efforts to protect the environment and the health and safety of this region are personal, and matter to us as much as they matter to you. I urge you to reach out with any concerns you might have so we can address and work through them – together.

Best,

Dave MacLauchlin

As of July, the Ravena plant is officially transitioning from Lafarge to the Holcim identity – a move by Holcim US to unify its brands across the country under a single banner with a shared mission: To create a more sustainable world.

Though our name and look are changing, our longstanding commitment to the community remains the same. We are proud to be the largest employer and largest property taxpayer in Southern Albany County.

We will continue to strive to be a good neighbor, actively engaging with residents and elected officials and supporting events, organizations, services, and programs that improve and enrich our collective quality of life.

As you know, the Ravena plant has been a member of this Ravena-Coeymans community for more than six decades as a legacy business leader. The plant celebrated our 60th anniversary just this past year. We have played a vital role in developing the very foundation of this community’s everyday lives.

With an enhanced global network and a strong focus on sustainability, the plant will continue to deliver the unmatched quality of products that our partners and customers both expect and deserve.

Our Community

COMMUNITY AND GIVING

Gradient-Line.jpg

As an anchor for our region and the largest taxpayer in the area south of Albany, we believe in fostering strong partnerships across the community. This is why we have developed several initiatives to support local organizations, groups and schools, including our annual donation to local police, fire, school and other government programs. We also frequently work with local food pantries and sponsor events such as the Ravena Friendship Festival.

We created the Community Advisory Committee (CAC), which includes representatives from the city, school district, civic leaders and area residents to improve and promote communication between our operations and those who call the Ravena-Coeymans area home. The CAC meets regularly to discuss the plant, any recent issues, answer questions and receive feedback from the community.

Our team truly values transparency and input from the community, and the well-being and prosperity of the area is our top priority. We want to help our community thrive and be sustainable in all regards, including facing the challenges of good environmental responsibility together.
